Filter conditions guide

These conditions describe how this page matches workbook records. Your current selections apply together.

Conditions for each search filter and control
Filter / controlConditions
How filters combineActive-filter chips above the results let you remove individual selections. Different filters must all match. Multiple selections within a dropdown or Traffic Enhancements match any selected choice. Unselected filters impose no restriction. Traffic Civil and Criminal match either selected type: checking both includes civil or criminal traffic records. Leaving both unchecked imposes no traffic-type restriction.
SearchIgnores capitalization and normalizes character-width variants. Splits your text into words; every word must appear somewhere across the 29 original fields or the jurisdiction name. Words can match within longer text and can occur in different fields.
JurisdictionsMatches the record’s jurisdiction code to any selected jurisdiction. Defaults: State of Nevada (NV), City of Las Vegas (LV), and Clark County (CL). Clearing the selection includes all jurisdictions.
Class codesMatches any selected workbook class code exactly. The class search box only narrows the available class choices; it does not independently filter the results.
Class severityUses the class-code key: A–E = Felony; G = Gross Misdemeanor; I = Civil Infraction; M = Misdemeanor. R, W, Z and other unmapped codes fall under Unspecified. Matches any selected severity.
Traffic — Civil 🚦The long description must start with “Civil-”, ignoring capitalization. No statute, jurisdiction, or class-code requirement is added by this checkbox.
Traffic — Criminal ⚖️Statute must identify chapter 482, 483, 484, 484A–484E, 485, 486, or 490. Excludes class I, descriptions starting “Civil-”, classes outside A–E/G/GM/M, citations absent from the saved published-section list, and unresolved or fact-dependent entries. Includes only records classified as criminal by the section-specific rules. No jurisdiction restriction is added. Generic speeding/flagger entries are excluded without qualifying facts; descriptions specifying 30+ mph over the posted limit qualify under the speeding rule. The Henderson record T10004M00HE is explicitly excluded. Open View for the record’s exact decision, reason, and statute source.
SMART NOC enhancementReads characters 8–9 of a valid 11-character SMART NOC. No coded enhancement matches 00; Any coded enhancement matches any non-00 value. Selecting both choices includes all valid SMART NOCs. Clearing the selection includes all records, including malformed SMART NOCs; malformed codes do not match an explicit choice. Code meanings vary by offense and jurisdiction; non-00 can indicate a coded variation such as a speed range. This filter applies independently of the descriptive Traffic Enhancements filters. Clear filters removes all SMART NOC enhancement selections.
Traffic Enhancements — Work Zone 🚧Long description contains “work zone”, ignoring capitalization. Spaces and hyphens are accepted between the words. No statute, jurisdiction, or class restriction is added.
Traffic Enhancements — School / School Crossing Zone 🏫Long description contains “school zone” or “school crossing zone”, ignoring capitalization. Spaces and hyphens are accepted between the words. No statute, jurisdiction, or class restriction is added.
Traffic Enhancements — Pedestrian Safety Zone 🚶Long description contains “pedestrian safety zone” or “pedestrian zone”, ignoring capitalization. Spaces and hyphens are accepted between the words. No statute, jurisdiction, or class restriction is added.
Traffic Enhancements — Collision-Related Penalties 💥Statute starts with 484B. or 484C. (optional NRS prefix). Description must contain: “resulting in” followed by death, bodily harm, injury/injuries, or property damage; “injury to another person or property”; or “vehicular manslaughter” / “vehicular homicide”. Ignores capitalization. Includes matching attempted offenses and civil variants; excludes 484E crash-reporting and hit-and-run entries. This is a description-based match, not a determination that an additional penalty applies.
NIBRS groupAt least one of the record’s ten NIBRS fields must contain a code mapped to a selected Group A or Group B in the supplied FBI 2025.0 reference. Selecting groups narrows the category/code choices and removes selected codes outside those groups.
NIBRS category / codeAt least one of the ten NIBRS fields must match a selected individual code or a code in a selected category. Multiple selections match any choice. Original workbook code assignments are preserved.
Record statusActive records: INACTIVE is not Y and REPEALED has no value. Inactive: INACTIVE is Y. Repealed date present: REPEALED has a value. Multiple selections match any selected status; inactive and repealed can overlap. Defaults to Active records.
SortOrders matching records by the selected headings, in selection order; it does not remove records. Uses numeric-aware text comparison. Ties retain workbook order. No selected sort retains workbook order. Initial sort is Jurisdiction — State of Nevada first: Nevada records first, other jurisdictions alphabetical by name, then NOC code within each jurisdiction.
Clear filtersClears search, class choices, class-search text, severity, both Traffic checkboxes, all Traffic Enhancements, and NIBRS choices. Restores NV/LV/CL jurisdictions, Active records, and Jurisdiction — State of Nevada first sort.
